Soft in the ruin, 2025
This ceramic sculpture holds a moment of emotional exposure, creating a sense of vulnerability.
The raw textures, colour palette, and expression all work together to build the emotive nature of the piece.
Hail on a Sunny Day
Hail on a Sunny Day is an image where the weather obscures a subject backlit by the sun. Out of focus, the person is covered by rain and hail. They are holding a camera, looking straight at the viewer as if looking in a mirror. It connects the viewer to the subject, being able to see themself in the picture. The precipitation works as an analogy of sorrow as it overpowers the individual, blurring the sunlight—or happiness—that they cannot see in themselves.

Mountaintop Sunrise
On the island of Oahu, people gather together on top of abandoned military lookouts to better view the rising sun. Taken at seven in the morning after a steep thirty minute hike, Mountaintop Sunrise shows the unrelenting urge to see the beauty of the world as one people. It becomes an escape from the problems that an individual cannot solve themself—with many instead coming together to share a moment in which there are seemingly no problems in the world.

Lucca Nichols
Lucca Nichols, a Biopsychology major here at FLC. Most of his art is centered around people or nature, as it feels like an exploration whenever he dives into a new piece--either of the individual or the world. He captures it all through his camera, paint, or plain graphite sketches. Although it has been hard to find time to create art with classes such as organic chemistry and zoology, he has tried to squeeze in as many artworks and photographs as possible between them. He hopes you like the two he has to share today.

Teeth
Suspence Tactics
(The red piece)
1. Teeth
2. I had a really weird dream about getting wire stuck in my teeth and I think that’s why I painted this. I used the color scheme from that dream for the piece.
(The green piece)
1. Suspense Tactics
2. I used the paint from my old bedroom a nice green and a cream white. It didn’t really have any deep meaning behind it. I wanted it to look organic.

Body/Hug
The kisses refer to the attempts of blanketing emotions in an illusion of self-love, change, and peace others tend to portray after such similar circumstances. As well as this, they refer to the attempts of the expression of love to my romantic interests, peers, friends and family. The kisses avoid the heart, as a visualization of the reluctance to give myself the love others receive from me.
Amari Hatcher
Armari Hatcher is a fine art student at the University of Massachusetts Boston but her skills and techniques are mostly self-taught. Amari is from Springfield, Massachustts but moved to Boston to pursue a career in art. She finds that a lot of her art comes from her own real world experiences, mostly trying to recreate those moments through her own eyes in a way that's easy for the viewer to not only digest, but to interpret in their own way as well. This piece is different from what she usually makes, as she doesn’t make a lot of representational art but she felt as though it was one of the few ways that she could express the feelings that she had about this, in full.

Shana Verro
Shana Verro, a twenty-four-year-old artist based in Normandy, France,
creates graphite artworks filled with sensitivity and depth.
Shana explores universal themes that resonate with everyone: love and the
bonds that connect human beings, but also primal fears, the monsters that
emerge from the night, the anxiety of solitude, and the ambivalence of our
emotions...
Balancing tradition and modernity, Shana infuses her artwork with both
strength and deep emotion. Standing at the crossroads of the real and the
dreamlike, her inspiration draws from mythology, legends, and diverse
cultures.

The triptych
“I was dying inside but it was only a nightmare.
It was a beautiful dream but then I woke up and it’s all gone.
I found peace in my Nightmare and pain in my Dream. Insomnia comes when both are haunting me.”
-> In dark times, I struggled with very vivid dreams, nightmares, and insomnia that distorted my notion of reality. It speaks of pain and fear, but also resilience.
Broken or Powerful
Broken or Powerful is about hope. This might be the first time I talk about it, but it came from hoping it’s not that bad when you first feel the impact and from holding on just a little longer before it’s too late to repair anything.
Cerberus
Cerberus is a turning point in my artistic style. For the first time, coming from anger, I allowed myself to express my feelings through art. It has a special place in my heart. She represents the weight of unchosen duty, the quiet endurance behind raw power, and the inner fire of someone who has been forced to stand guard for too long.
Turning Into a Monster
Turning Into a Monster:
“I’m turning into the monster you created. Remember I was kind and able to love. I was searching for comfort before learning how to bite.”
-> It is about no longer silently accepting being broken repeatedly.
Fight with Brad Pitt
The author has inserted himself into the iconic scene from the movie Fight Club, where he appears to be about to fight the actor and main character of the film. The artwork responds to the fragmentation that accompanies the movie and all the connotations associated with it. At the same time, it depicts the struggle of an ordinary person against a megastar like Brad Pitt.
